Hi! Recently, D and I traveled to Portland, OR for a mini vacation. I didn’t know what to expect because I’d never been to Portland (or any place in Oregon for that matter), but D and other friends of mine kept telling me how great it is. That being said, I couldn’t wait for our trip. I even added a countdown calendar on my phone because I was so excited. Every day I would remind D that our trip was getting closer each day.
The start of our day was long for both of us. I packed the night before we were leaving…and it took me forever. I didn’t even go to bed until a little past midnight that night! Talk about being a procrastinator. 😉 The next day, we woke up at 5:30 AM and had to leave our house by 6:20 AM to get to the airport on time. D, being the sweet boyfriend that he is, let me have the window seat on the airplane because he wanted me to see all the great views. As we got closer to OR, I looked out my window. Lo and behold, I saw patches of green everywhere! For those [like me] who haven’t traveled to Oregon before, let me just say that it is SO green there! I’ve seen green areas in other states but definitely not as much as OR!
When we landed in Portland, our flight arrived a bit earlier than expected. That was great for us because that meant D and I could use that time to explore the city more. We took the light rail right into the city and grabbed lunch at a very cute bistro & bar restaurant called Mothers. They have the best French toast, so if you’re ever in Portland, I highly recommend this restaurant! After lunch, we decided to walk to our hotel, the Westin. It was perfect because it was right in the heart of Portland and walkable to various restaurants, shopping, and transportation. We probably walked at least 5 miles a day! We definitely got our daily workout. For the places we couldn’t walk, we took the light rail and/or bus which were very convenient for us. There’s so much I can say about what we did in Portland, but it would take a few more hours to write. 😉 I made a spreadsheet of things we can do and eat, but unfortunately it was too large to fulfill. However, because we both really enjoy food, we crossed off all the restaurants we wanted to eat at & more. My favorite part of the trip was going to the International Rose Test Garden. It was the most beautiful garden I have been too. It is definitely a MUST see! I’ll post pics below, but it’s so much more amazing in person. Portland was definitely a cool city with unbelievably amazing food, culture, and breath taking views.
The International Rose Test Garden is so beautiful! My favorite part of the trip.

Our trip to Portland wouldn’t be complete without Voodoo doughnuts!
