Good morning!
Today’s post is going to be a recap from this past weekend. It felt so nice to enjoy a 3-day weekend considering it was both Valentine’s day and President’s day. I even had the entire weekend off which made it even better! Yeah!
For Valentine’s day, Davis had planned something for me. I originally told him we didn’t have to do anything and I would be happy doing whatever, even if it was just sitting at home. I feel like I rarely get weekends off, so to me relaxing at home and watching movies or Netflix sounded great. Anyways, of course Davis didn’t tell me what our plans were for the weekend. As much as I love surprises, I don’t like being told that I ‘have’ a surprise. It just drives me craaaazy not knowing. Wouldn’t you agree?! When I asked Davis more about my surprise, all I got from him was:
1. I’d like it
2. Keep Saturday and Sunday free
3. He loves me
And some of you that actually know Davis knows that this is exactly what he would say. 😉 He can be pretty smug sometimes… Just kidding. He’s wonderful.
I’d say Davis did a really good job not telling me anything. However, it wasn’t until Saturday morning when I found out. Davis was sitting at his computer when I suddenly walked into our room and saw a map. I immediately asked, “what is that??” And of course he replied, “oh, nothing” then “What did you see?” For all I knew, I thought we were just taking a drive to a place I haven’t been before. While I was half right, Davis said he was planning on taking me wine tasting to some local wineries on the outskirts of San Luis Obispo. He said the scenery is beautiful and he’s been wanting to take me out there since his bike ride. He was definitely right.
Davis took me to two nice wineries. The first winery we went to used to be an old school house called Baileyana. I loved this one because as soon as you enter, it’s like a small gift shop. They had all sorts of cute house and gift items. I’d definitely go back there to buy some things. At this winery, I got to choose 5 wines. I wasn’t familiar with most of them, so I just asked what they recommended on trying. All were great! Baileyana has a sitting area where you can hang out, enjoy the great views, soak up the sun, eat, and drink. They even had a bocce ball court (see explanation here)! After I sampled a couple of wines, we went outside to play two rounds of bocce ball. I’d definitely go back with a couple of friends.
The second winery Davis took me to was called Wolff Vineyards. The views from this winery were spectacular. What I liked most about this winery was that you had the option to sit inside or outside in the garden to do your wine tasting. Because it was such a gorgeous day out, we chose to sit in the garden. Someone walked around with a bottle of wine and give a brief description about it. I actually preferred this method of wine tasting because it felt more relaxed. I didn’t feel a sense a moment of awkwardness before or after tasting my wine. At Wolff Vineyards, they have a pre-selected list of wines and so I got to try 7 of them. I can’t remember the name of my favorite that I had, but all I know was that it was red and it was a newer release. Highly recommended!
If you’re ever in the San Luis Obispo area or near the central coast, you should drive along the wineries and go wine tasting! Even if you don’t drink wine, just drive along the wineries. They are absolutely breath-taking.
Now, onto the pictures…
